Job Location: Keefe Memorial Hospital - Cheyenne Wells, CO 80810 Position Type: Per Diem Education Level: 2 Year Degree Salary Range: $36.03 - $48.89 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Category: Health Care PRIMARY FUNCTION Planning and coordinating the delivery of quality nursing care for patients utilizing the nursing process. Providing and/or delegating the delivery of quality nursing care for patients utilizing the nursing process. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. Maintaining standards for professional nursing practice. Supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as outlined in the Colorado statutes governing nursing. SIGNIFICANT DUTIES Initiates assessment/reassessment based on the patient’s needs per nursing standards, organizational policies and procedures. Synthesizes pertinent patient data to develop nursing care plans and identify nursing priorities for care and desired outcomes. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate and provide patient care. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in nursing theory and ability to learn and develop competence in patient care across the lifespan. Demonstrates ability to learn and ultimately practice in the multiple settings within the rural hospital. Integrates appropriate standards of care into the patient’s plan of care based on the diagnosis and age‑specific needs. Anticipates patient needs, purposeful rounding on patients routinely and attends to nurse call system and patient alarms. Executes therapeutic and/or supportive interventions. Evaluates the patient’s response to, and effectiveness of interventions. Evaluates patient’s progress toward established outcomes. Incorporates cultural considerations into the plan/delivery of care. Includes family or significant others in the care of the patient as appropriate. Documents patient care and related information according to Keefe procedures for documentation. Facilitates patient’s transition to next level of care. Assumes responsibility in a shared or delegated assignment and supports team member’s practices through timely and professional communication. Serves as a role model to colleagues, students, and other care providers. Actively participates in continued learning opportunities and continued self‑development pertinent to the duties of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Demonstrates commitment to the organizational mission, vision, and core values. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to relative practice area. Demonstration of leadership skills and ability to make sound decisions for departmental delivery of care. Establishes goals and strategic plan for departments of responsibility and participates in strategic planning activities of overall facility. Maintains current knowledge of department and hospital operations, local and industry trends and practices, market forces and outside regulatory requirements. Identifies opportunities and challenges to the departments’ services and applies this knowledge to develop new or enhance existing policies, procedures, systems, and services. Demonstrates effective relationships with hospital staff, patients, public, outside agencies, and providers. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing. Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Exercises professional judgment, courtesy, and professionalism in daily interactions with others. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations. QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience: Graduation from accredited nursing program. BSN preferred. Experience in rural hospital nursing is beneficial but not required. Certificates, Licensure, Registrations: Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Colorado or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 3 months of hire. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 3 months of hire. Current Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 3 months of hire. There will be opportunities for other duties as this position may evolve and policies and training may change.
