They will monitor and adjust equipment, perform routine inspections, and conduct tests to assess water quality. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing system malfunctions to maintain efficient operations. Additionally, the operator will maintain accurate records of processes and ensure safety protocols are strictly followed.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform analyses, recording measurements/actions in applicable record logs.Recognize unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating conditions and be able to take immediate actions.Able to troubleshoot and has a basic understanding of process flow and mechanical functions.Familiar with basic chemicals, chemical compounds, and reactions.Inspect equipment and perform routine cleaning/preventive maintenance.Keep work area neat and organized.Monitor and regulate waste treatment discharge to align with all applicable regulations.Ability to keep working relationships, communicate effectively and work with minimum supervision.Experience in manufacturing environment for +1 year.Assist in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of motors, pumps, gearboxes, pulleys, belts, and other parts of the wastewater process.Perform extensive and in-depth preventive maintenance inspections, checks, and services.Current license in physical chemical wastewater treatment and desire to continue education to obtain higher license.Knowledge of process chemicals; dangers associated with safely handling hazardous chemicals.Solid understanding of operation, methods, and procedures of waste treatment.General arithmeticReach, grasp, lift 35 Ibs, and push/pull/slide heavy materialMake coordinated movements of the hands and arms to grasp and move objects.Stoop, bend, squat, crawl, and climbMinimum QualificationsPhysical/Chemical Wastewater – Class AAbility to become forklift & MEWP certifiedStrong computer, math, and reading skillsAbility to multi-task and adapt to an ever-changing environment and processesMust be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordinglyAbility to communicate with leadership and fellow team members in both written and verbal forms at a level above standardAbility to work from heights up to 45' using fall protectionSouth Carolina Environmental Certification Board Wastewater Operator LicenseCompetenciesAccountability: Responsible for the consequences of one's actionsAnalytical Thinking: Requires analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues and problemsAttention to detail: Ability to see and become attentive to detailsCooperation: Ability to work effectively with others to achieve a shared goal, even when the object at stake is of no direct personal interestDependability: Being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations; punctual and meeting work attendance and deadline requirementsFlexible: Ability to respond, modify, and integrate change with minimal personal resistanceIdentification with Management: Ability and willingness to understand, accept, and carry out decisions and measures from managersInitiative: Recognize and create opportunities and act accordingly rather than waiting passively for opportunities to happenInnovation: Creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas for and answers to work-related problemsInsight: Having and gaining insight into situations, problems, and processesPersistence: Continuance in a course of action despite difficulty or oppositionIntegrity: Adhering to standards, values, and code of conduct within positionStress management: Ability to perform under pressure and within fast-paced environmentsReliability: Extent to which you can be counted on to do what is expected (completing assigned tasks, projects, and meeting deadlines)Team-oriented: Working well with others and maintaining a focus and value on teamLeading: Ability to exert influence through direction and guidanceWorking ConditionsPhysical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Use of hands and fingers to grasp tools, supplies, and equipment (manual and finger dexterity). Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs. on a continuous basis. Ability to see details at a distance and at close range.Environmental Demands: Indoors/Outdoors (extreme cold and/or heat); Frequent Task Changes, Tedious/Exacting Work, Dust, Temperature Extremes, Loud Noises. Occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such a petroleum product, degreasers, and spays.
