Product Testing TechnicianIncludes routine product testing and product qualification in support of chemical, oil, or gas production/manufacturing for product release. Develops and implements inspection programs and tests to ensure compliance and quality control for product certification.Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:Performs a wide variety of tests on refinery process samples and finished products per established proceduresTest methods vary from simple methods such as density/gravity, color, and viscosity to more complex methods such as knock (octane) testing, automatic distillation and titration, gas chromatography, etc.Is required to learn and perform approximately 180 different tests following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that comply with ASTM, CARB, EPA, or in-house testing methods.Utilizes standard Quality Control / Quality Assurance processes to ensure accuracy and precision of resultsValidates data, performs calculations, and reports test resultsStrong problem-solving skills. Identifies risks and takes action to eliminate.Excellent planning and organizational skillsJob necessitates driving on a routine basisRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or EquivalentBachelor's Degree in Natural Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Technology (Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing) or 3 years of full analytical laboratory testing experienceMust possess a Valid California Driver's LicenseMust be able to obtain a TWIC card.Able to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime. QCD is a 24/7 operation, and Lab Operators are required to work shift work, 12-hour shifts, typically working 14 out of 28 days per month.Good computer skills and problem-solving ability.This is a Safety Sensitive Position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with a proven track record in Safety and Reliability.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Technology (Engineering, Computer Science, Manufacturing)10 years Laboratory testing experienceRefinery/Chemical Plant Process Operations.Knowledge of refinery test methods (e.g. ASTM methods for: GC, AA, IC, XRF, elemental analysis, and wet chemistry)Understands Statistical Process Control (SPC)Demonstrated ability to consult on analytical instrumentation and test methods, including method development and equipment/instrumentation purchase and repairKnowledge and understanding of refinery processesExperience with chemometric modeling and analysis.Regulatory Disclosure for US PositionsThe compensation and reference to benefits for this role are listed on this posting in compliance with applicable law.
