Status: Full-time, hourly (non-exempt)
Pay: $17.50 per hour, plus share of tips

ABOUT US
Elsewhere Wine Bar & Lounge is a new wine-focused hospitality project from Nick Kokonas and Chef Elliot Bell in St. Helena, built around discovery, generosity, and a slightly unreasonable love of great bottles. Our wine program is broad, ambitious, and personal, spanning benchmark producers, rare bottles, and idiosyncratic wines with stories worth telling. Elsewhere is designed to feel polished but never stiff, deeply knowledgeable without being performative, and welcoming enough that collectors, winemakers, locals, travelers, and the wine-curious all want to return often.

THE ROLE
The Cellar Sommelier keeps Elsewhere's wine program organized and accurate behind the scenes. They own receiving, storage, and inventory, so the floor team always knows what is available and where to find it. It's a strong role for someone building toward a floor sommelier position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Receive and check wine deliveries, put product away, and match deliveries to invoices
• Maintain cellar organization, bin locations, and proper storage conditions
• Keep the inventory system accurate and run regular counts weekly
• Pull and stage bottles for service, private events, and special orders
• Work with the Wine Director to keep the wine list current and flag items running low
• Care for glassware, decanters, and wine service tools
• Support wine service on the floor during busy periods
• Help with vendor tastings and allocation tracking

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 1+ year of experience in a restaurant cellar, wine retail, or a sommelier team
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Comfort with spreadsheets and Craftable / Bevager or similar inventory software
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

PREFERRED
• Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory, WSET Level 2, or higher

CERTIFICATIONS
• Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification within 60 days of hire
• California Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire. Elsewhere pays required costs and compensates required training and exam time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Lift and carry cases of wine up to 50 pounds repeatedly
• Work in a temperature-controlled cellar
• Stand, bend, and reach for extended periods
