About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have experience in general care of medical/surgical patients Description: This position requires an RN for MedSurg/Tele. The facility has 351 licensed beds. No trauma designation is present. It is a teaching hospital with a chest pain center and stroke center. The unit consists of 36 beds. The average daily census is currently 33 patients. The patient population includes general Med/Surg and postoperative patients. Common diagnoses include bariatric, hips, trauma surgical, and bucks traction. Patient ratios are 1:6. LPNs will also have a patient ratio of 1:6. CNAs will have a ratio of 1:9-12. Support within the department includes a CNA and charge nurse. Duties include assisting with general ADLs, vital signs, ambulation, and feeding assistance. Phlebotomy skills are required. Telemetry monitoring is available 24/7. The technology and equipment include EMR systems and specific IV pumps. Floating may occur to sister units with same ratios and expectations. Weekend rotation requires working every other weekend with holiday expectations. The unit culture is positive, highlighted by strong leadership and a solid work ethic among the team.
