Production Supervisor - Nights

Job Summary Supervise and direct production processes to optimize machine efficiencies while ensuring quality products, minimal scrap, and low conversion cost. Provide clear reporting and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and company policies. Essential Functions Supervise support of all company policies – Safety, ISO 9001, and plant procedures. Lead production safety initiatives and promote a safe work environment through planning, observation, and execution. Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements. Execute operational checks and verifications timely and consistently. Write and conduct employee evaluations and corrective actions as needed. Ensure resin blends, production yield, and scrap rate meet goals and respond when not met. Enter data into systems as a means of recording shift performance. Monitor daily attendance and staffing to meet schedules and maintain hours in Kronos; report differences, changes, or needs to the Production Manager. Observe and troubleshoot manufacturing and operations areas where safety, quality, or production are at risk. Maintain complete and correct working documents and paperwork, authorizing differences as required. Maintain good housekeeping, safety, and manufacturing practices. Effectively communicate policies and procedures with a positive attitude. Perform first responder duties as needed. Report all aspects of production, including machine status, personnel status, new employee training, and training of promoted individuals. Conduct daily pre‑shift or other employee meetings and trainings as needed. Other duties deemed necessary by Management. Additional Front Line Leader Responsibilities Accountable for the safety of all employees through active engagement in safety activities and clear communication of safe work expectations. Complete responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Lead risk assessment activities by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate or reduce environmental, health, or safety risks. Lead all required meetings (e.g., pre‑shift, department, town hall). Complete incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions in a timely and thorough manner. Ensure proper training and development of all assigned employees. Set goals for the unit; achieve goals and ensure employees understand and work toward them. Motivate and coach employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identify and coordinate additional training as needed. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience Associate degree or equivalent from a 2‑year college or technical school. Five years in manufacturing; three years in a supervisory role. Other Skills and Abilities Organize and prioritize work activities and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Make practical decisions with limited direction or advance preparation. Communicate ideas to groups or individuals. Use AS400, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes. Use tools and measurement instruments. Develop information tracking systems. Understand business finances and manufacturing costs. Know extrusion processes and national testing standards. Operate a forklift. Use computers, Kronos, AS400, and PC. Support a 24/7 site. Communicate effectively with employees from diverse cultural backgrounds with limited English skills. Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public. Knowledge of spreadsheet software, Word, and Access. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Physical Demands Work may involve changing priorities, time pressures, and high job‑related stress. Employees may be required to work around moving machinery or electricity, use hand tools, wear appropriate PPE, and lift up to 65 pounds unassisted. Work Environment The work is performed in a manufacturing environment, with more than 50% spent on the production floor and less than 50% in an office. Noise levels are typically loud in production areas; the environment is not climate controlled and may involve high heat. Hearing, eye, and toe protection are required; additional PPE may be needed near moving machinery. Our Expectations Engage and develop as part of a high‑performing team.
