Project Controls Specialist
The Ruhlin Company seeks to hire a Project Controls Specialist. The role is based out of Ruhlin's Sharon Center office and reports to the Project Controls Manager.
Support divisional operations related to technology use, successful project execution and financial performance, and employee training and development.
Responsibilities:
Cost
- Review project cost and schedule reports for errors and omissions.
- Participate in divisional job status meetings.
- Assist with the gathering of information for claim preparation.
- Work with others to help ensure accurate and complete project schedules and cost tracking/reporting.
General
- Attend project handoff meetings and closeout meetings.
- Review operational processes and recommend changes and enhancements.
- Help ensure project management and staff are aware of and adhering to established standard operating procedures.
- Create custom reports in HCSS, Vista, and other software.
- Oversee HCSS license assignments, access, and update user profiles as changes occur.
- Continuously monitor software to identify enhancements and updates for improved and broadened functionality.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Project Controls Manager.
Networking
- Attend and participate in industry meetings and networking events.
- Represent the company by involvement on various committees and construction related associations.
Quality
- Review and analyze various divisional project documentation.
- Help ensure project startups, schedules, and costs are properly executed, tracked, reported, and maintained.
- Assist with the development of standard operating procedures (SOP's) and best practices.
Safety
- Support project management in meeting or exceeding established safety goals.
- Work with the safety department on creating and reviewing safety reports using HCSS.
Talent Acquisition and Employee Development
- Attend job fairs and outreach programs as necessary to recruit future company employees.
- Assist in the assessment of training and development needs across all divisions.
- Identify and assess appropriate training opportunities to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Provide training to project staff to ensure the successful completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Update training manuals and procedures
Essential Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, construction management, business administration, or related field.
Minimum 2 years construction industry experience.
Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
Good problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
Proficient with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Viewpoint Vista, HCSS software.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness and ability to work some non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends).
Team focused mindset to build strong working relationships.
Good knowledge of construction methods and materials, costing, scheduling, and estimating.
