Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with a current CA RN license for a 13-week evening shift assignment supporting a variety of surgical specialties.

Job Details

• Operating Room setting within a hospital,
• Specializes in General, Orthopedic, Vascular, Trauma, and Neuro surgical cases,
• 1:1 patient ratio,
• Evening shift, 4x10 hours, 13:00-23:30,
• Every other weekend required,
• On-call as needed,
• Epic charting system experience required,

Job Requirements

• Active CA RN license required,
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required,
• CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred,
• Minimum 3+ years of nursing experience required,
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required,
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred,
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred,
• Skilled in scrubbing and circulating for General, Vascular, Gynecology, Neurology, Cardiovascular, Orthopedic, and other surgical specialties,
• Proficient in administration of blood and blood products, cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation monitoring, infection control, and specimen handling,
• Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords,
• Able to work with bodily fluids and in high-risk (OSHA Risk Category I) environments,
• Able to handle emergency or crisis situations and unpredictable circumstances,
• Able to make fine discriminations in sound,
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Plans, manages, and coordinates nursing care delivered to surgical patients,
• Directs and supervises ancillary nursing personnel and collaborates with the healthcare team,
• Maintains AORN standards of professional nursing practice,
• Works in a fast-paced environment with frequent contact with patients under varying circumstances,
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius,
• Returning staff/travelers must have a 1-year separation before returning to this facility,
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract,
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day,
• Lab work must be completed within 3-5 days of contract signing,
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
