Senior Consultant - Risk & Analytics (Property & Casualty Actuarial Consulting)

DescriptionAs a Senior Consultant in the Corporate practice within Risk and Analytics, you will work on and assist project teams focused on developing and delivering reserve studies, pricing/funding analyses and captive consulting activities for our healthcare and corporate clients. You will be responsible for leading the team through data preparation as well as producing and analyzing initial results. You will work closely with a variety of senior colleagues who will help you increase your industry knowledge and sharpen your actuarial skills – all while providing a blend of client facing skills as well. You will play a role in supporting our marketing efforts and the growth of this practice area. As a project manager, you will bring order and process to the client teams with whom you work, and you will serve as a resource to analysts as you help them build their technical and client-facing expertise. As part of our Corporate practice, you will be mentored by more senior colleagues with deep relevant experience.The BusinessThe Risk and Analytics Corporate Practice includes over 100 actuarial professionals focused on large market, U.S. clients. Our primary services include reserving and funding for retained losses, captive feasibility, retention optimization, and cost allocation models. We also perform actuarial analyses of loyalty programs for hospitality, airlines and financial institutions, and are actively involved in the development of capital modeling and predictive analytics solutions for our clients.As a Senior Consultant, you will contribute to varied and interesting projects such as:Self-insurance and captives reviews, including:Pricing/funding analysesLiability valuationsCaptive feasibilityRisk retention optimizationModeling of risk diversification and capital/surplus requirementsAnalysis of loyalty reward programs for various industriesInternal development of practice/industry tools, benchmarks and informationResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a motivated, independent learner, looking to deliver exceptional performance in the following areas:ExcellenceAssist with actuarial activities on various project teamsPrepare the first draft of client deliverables for review by more senior colleagues on project teamsSeek and participate in key learning and development opportunitiesMaintain steady progress through exams (if applicable)PeopleBuild strong internal relationships and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teamsDemonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levelsTrain, mentor and serve as a best practices resource for junior colleagues, new staff and project team associatesClientsDeliver superior, consistent project management for assigned clientsDeliver work in accordance with project deadlinesGrow and forge new relationships with clients; play an active role in client communications and delivery of resultsExperienced colleagues will serve as the project manager on some projects which includes:Creating project plansMonitoring progress to deadlines and budgetIncreased client interactionScheduling and managing regular status meeting callsEnsuring appropriate and effective communication among team members and the clientDelivering projects that meet or exceed client expectationsIncreasing efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processesFinancialMeet billable hour goalsPerform work efficiently and look for process efficienciesAs project manager, support project profitability through effective project managementContribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals and responding to RFPsQualificationsThe RequirementsActuarial exam progress toward ACAS and/or FCAS credentials is highly encouragedExcellent skills across the Microsoft Office suiteProgramming skills such as VBA, R or Python and proficient knowledge of manipulating databases like SQL would be an advantageStrong written and oral communication skillsWell organized and detail orientedProven experience successfully working on multiple projects at the same time while producing quality deliverables on time and within budgetAbility to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely mannerStrong client service orientationAbility to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriateFlexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issuesInterest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one's work fits into the broader landscapeStrong analytical skills, including the ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic wayAbility to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environmentUndergraduate degree requiredNote: Employment-based non-immigrant visa sponsorship and/or assistance is not offered for this specific job opportunity.This position will remain posted for a minimum of three business days from the date posted or until a sufficient/appropriate candidate slate has been identified.This is a remote role and can be based in any of the locations listed.Compensation and BenefitsBase salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).CompensationThe base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $125,000– $225,500 USD per year.
