Transactional Tax Associate Attorney
Los Angeles, CA
Direct Counsel is seeking a Transactional Tax Associate Attorney with 2–3 years of experience to join the Corporate practice of a leading global law firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transactional tax matters, with a particular focus on M&A and private equity transactions .
Candidates should have immediately transferable experience and a strong academic background, along with excellent analytical and writing skills, attention to detail, sound business judgment, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law school
LL.M. in Taxation
2+ years of transactional experience
Experience focused on M&A and private equity transactions
Strong academic credentials
Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
Strong attention to detail and sound business judgment
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Entrepreneurial and proactive approach to work
Advise clients on tax matters related to M&A, private equity, and other complex transactions
Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support transaction strategy and execution
Draft and review legal documents, contracts, tax provisions, and correspondence
Assist with complex transactions from inception through closing, including preparation for negotiations and other transaction-related activities
Work closely with attorneys and business professionals to develop creative and effective transaction strategies
Communicate directly with internal and external clients, providing practical advice and timely updates
Maintain strong client relationships and respond to client needs with professionalism and sound judgment
Stay current on relevant tax laws, regulations, and legal developments
Participate in professional development, firm initiatives, and pro bono activities
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with regular in-office presence and flexibility for remote work
Compensation: $225,000–$260,000 annually, depending on geographic market, experience, skills, and qualifications
