JOB SUMMARY

The Legal Project Management Specialist is a role within the Practice Innovation Department responsible for supporting the firm's legal project management (LPM) capabilities and contributing to the effective delivery of legal services. This position works closely with attorneys, practice innovation professionals, and business services teams to support matter management activities, improve efficiency, and enhance client value. The Specialist reports to the Director of Legal Service Delivery and will assist the Legal Project Management team in executing project management methodologies, maintaining standards and templates, and supporting the integration of technology and AI solutions into matter management workflows. This role provides foundational experience in legal project management within a law firm environment and offers opportunities for professional growth and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Legal Project Management Support Assist the LPM team in maintaining firmwide LPM standards, methodologies, templates, and best practices. Support attorneys and practice groups with matter planning, scheduling, and coordination tasks. Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency and enhance client service through effective project management practices. Assist in the coordination and implementation of legal project management activities across the firm's practices and client engagements. Matter Management and Client Service Support attorneys in developing matter plans, budgets, timelines, and staffing models under the guidance of senior team members. Assist with the preparation and facilitation of matter kickoff meetings, status reviews, and post-matter assessments. Help monitor active matters for scope, budget, timeline, and resource management considerations. Track and elevate project risks, dependencies, and potential obstacles to senior team members. Support client-facing legal operations and project management initiatives as directed. Operational Excellence and Process Improvement Support process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency in legal service delivery. Assist in gathering and organizing data, metrics, and stakeholder feedback to support continuous improvement efforts. Collaborate with Practice Innovation on operational improvement projects as assigned. Service Delivery Center Support Serve as the operations lead supporting Honigman Review Solutions, ensuring efficient workflows, resource coordination, and consistent service delivery. Manage day-to-day operational processes for the corporate due diligence team, including matter intake, staffing coordination, timeline tracking, and quality assurance. Collaborate with attorneys, review professionals, and practice innovation team members to optimize due diligence workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement. Play an integral role in the design, build, and launch of future alternative staffing centers including developing operational frameworks, workflows, staffing models, and standard operating procedures. Support the creation of training materials, onboarding processes, and governance structures for the new center. Track and report on key performance metrics for both the existing due diligence team and the new center build, providing regular updates to leadership. Technology and Innovation Assist in the identification and implementation of technology-enabled solutions that improve matter management and legal service delivery. Support the adoption of project management, workflow, collaboration, and legal technology tools across the firm. Help develop processes, workflows, and documentation necessary to support effective adoption and use of legal technology and AI solutions. Assist in the creation of reports, dashboards, and analytics to promote data-driven decision-making. Training and Change Management Assist in the design and delivery of training programs that increase attorney and staff adoption of legal project management practices. Support the development of educational resources, playbooks, and guidance materials. Contribute to change management efforts associated with new processes, technologies, and service delivery models.

QUALIFICATIONS

1–2 years of experience in legal project management, legal operations, consulting, professional services, business analytics or a related field. Strong interest in legal operations, project management, and the business of law. Internship or prior experience in a law firm, legal department, or professional services organization. Familiarity with project management principles (e.g., PMP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma concepts). Exposure to legal technology, workflow automation, or matter management platforms. Coursework or certification in project management, business administration, or legal operations. Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and methodologies. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams. The anticipated annual pay range for this role is $75,000 to $90,000 (exempt). The actual offered pay rate will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity considerations.
