As the company continues to invest in its next generation of digital grid technologies, it is looking to appoint a Grid Testing Specialist to join its engineering team in California. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge sensing technology that enables utilities to monitor high-voltage transmission assets in real time. You’ll play a key role in validating new products through laboratory testing, field deployments, and close collaboration with engineering and product development teams. The Role You’ll support the development and testing of an advanced fiber optic sensing platform designed for transmission and grid monitoring applications. Your responsibilities will include: Setting up and executing laboratory and field tests for fiber optic sensing systems. Operating and maintaining optical interrogators and associated test equipment. Performing fiber optic splicing, termination, installation, and troubleshooting. Collecting, analyzing, and documenting test data to support engineering validation. Supporting product installations and commissioning activities at customer sites. Working closely with engineering, product, and field teams to improve product performance and reliability. Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring safe working practices. What We’re Looking For We’re interested in candidates who have: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Fiber Optics, Telecommunications, or a related discipline. Hands‑on experience with fiber optic systems, including splicing, installation, and OTDR/BOTDR testing. Exposure to distributed fiber sensing technologies such as DAS, DTS, or BOTDR (highly desirable). Experience within utilities, telecommunications, power transmission, or related technical environments. The ability to interpret technical drawings, test procedures, and engineering documentation. A practical, hands‑on approach with excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills. Willingness to travel occasionally to support field deployments and customer installations. Why Apply?
