This is a clerical position at the Haysi Facility of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority. Responsibilities include receptionist duties, meet and greet the public, mailroom duties, maintain various logs and inmate records, perform bookkeeping functions related to inmate accounts as well as purchase orders for the facility, maintain inventory and ordering of supplies, along with other related duties. Sensitive nature of the work requires the incumbent to exercise discretion and retain confidentiality of information obtained by discussions and/or recorded data. The candidate must be able to deal tactfully and cordially with a variety of people and  be capable of coping under sometimes stressful conditions.

High School Diploma or GED required. Two year degree and two years work related experience, preferred. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) helpful. Strong computer skills required to include Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, and a professional appearance and demeanor required. Ability to work independently with a diverse population. Valid Virginia driver's license required.
