Senior Software Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Build full-stack applications and features for UNION, owning the interface, services, data model, and production operation.
• Develop AI-facing natural-language interfaces and agents operating on governed data, including evaluation systems to measure output quality.
• Design and operate APIs with reliable timeout, retry, and write-handling behavior.
• Integrate applications with data platforms and analytical databases.
• Work directly with infrastructure, finance, supply chain, data center operations, and other non-engineering users to define and deliver software.
• Own product areas end to end, including on-call, observability, automated testing, and incident response.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production software across backend services and modern web frontends.
• Strong Python and TypeScript experience, with React, Next.js, or a comparable modern framework.
• Experience designing and running APIs, including timeouts, retries, and correctness when calls fail partway through.
• Strong SQL and relational data modeling experience, including evolving schemas after launch.
• Experience shipping LLM-backed production features and evaluating their correctness.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, and operating owned services.
• Experience integrating applications with platforms or analytical databases such as Spark, Kafka, StarRocks, or Snowflake.
• Experience working directly with non-engineers to define ambiguous problems and ship adopted software.
• Preferred qualifications include AI-native applications, LangGraph and related tracing or evaluation tools, distributed systems in Kubernetes, open table formats, query engines, internal platforms, or operational domains such as capacity planning, supply chain, or finance.
