Tax Senior
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our public accounting team. The Tax Senior will lead client engagements, prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns (including 1120, 1120S, 1040, and 990), provide tax planning and compliance guidance, and mentor junior staff. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and finalize federal and state income tax returns for corporations (1120), S corporations (1120S), partnerships, individuals (1040), and tax-exempt organizations (990).
- Manage multiple client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Provide tax research and analysis on complex issues, applying current federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities and identify opportunities for tax savings.
- Review workpapers and tax computations prepared by staff; provide constructive feedback and training to junior team members.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather information, explain technical tax matters, and deliver proactive advice.
- Coordinate with other practice areas (audit, advisory) and external advisors as needed to support integrated client service.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client meetings, and building client relationships.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes, professional standards, and industry trends; share insights with the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's in Taxation or Accounting is a plus.
- CPA license required or active candidate with intent to obtain CPA within a defined timeframe.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of tax experience in public accounting, with hands-on experience preparing and reviewing 1120, 1120S, 1040, and 990 returns.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
- Proven experience with tax research, tax planning, and client advisory services.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to mentor staff and interact with clients at all levels.
- Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office; experience with common tax research tools and accounting software preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
