Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical - Orthopedic Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 24 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

• 24 months gap required between for Travel at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from perm facility.

Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: Experience with orthopedic patients and PCA pumps required.

Special Requests: Block scheduling may be allowed as long as unit needs are met.

Unit Details: Elective orthopedic surgeries including hips, knees, and shoulders; some fractures from falls; back and neck neurosurgeries; general Med-Surg patients. Common therapies include IV fluids and PCA pumps; no heparin or other drips. CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow support may be used; managed by RT. Remote telemetry if needed; monitored by the 3rd floor, and RNs do not read strips.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; day-shift weekends are Saturday/Sunday. Holidays depend on unit needs; travelers may be expected to work holidays if permanent staff coverage is insufficient.

Floating Requirements: Travelers are first to float to any Med-Surg units; if floated to Tele, they will be assigned patients within their skill set.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 2 years
