Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position, requiring a NC or compact RN license and advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a busy hospital Emergency Department with 34 beds and 32 vertical care areas
• Provides care for all ages and a high acuity, high volume patient population with over 200 visits daily
• Common cases include trauma stabilization, stroke, respiratory illness, cardiac, and substance-related emergencies
• Typical RN patient ratio is 1:4
• Uses Epic for EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Phillips patient monitors
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts on a rotating weekend schedule with a 6-week schedule cycle
• Required to float to other EDs within Region 1 as needed, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, freestanding EDs, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities
• Main responsibilities include delivering emergency care, trauma stabilization, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams
• Team support includes CNAs, receptionists, and charge nurses
• Orientation process includes facility orientation and two days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays during the contract
• Up to 6 days of requested time off may be approved, excluding holidays
• Navy scrubs are required
• Free parking available on site
• A culture of teamwork is promoted within the unit
• First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Ability to care for both adult and pediatric patients in emergency situations
• Experience required in cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, IV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
