The City of San Jos's Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) is looking for people who want to make San Jos a better place to live and visit. The Community Services Division, BeautifySJ program is seeking candidates for one (1) full-time Community Services Supervisor to support services within the BeautifySJ program located at Kirk Community Center. The position will report to a Program Manager.
The Community Services Supervisor would oversee multiple teams consisting of blended teams of Community Coordinators, Community Activity Workers, Maintenance Workers, Regional Park Aides, Recreation Leaders, Volunteer Coordinators, and vendors. The Community Services Supervisor needs an excellent knowledge of volunteer and corporate engagement and organizing, local government services and structure and how to collaborate with neighborhood residents, City agencies or other private sector partners. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) operating on a typical schedule of Monday through Friday. Schedule flexibility is required to accommodate activities and events, which may include working 2 to 3 Saturdays per month, as well as occasional evenings.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervising a staff of blended teams of Community Coordinators, Community Activity Workers, Maintenance Workers, Regional Park Aides, Recreation Leaders, Volunteer Coordinators, and vendors in our communities, organizing activities to promote blight reduction, and volunteer and corporate engagement,
- Have the ability to quickly form relationships with internal City Departments and external partners to meet established goals and outcomes.
- Performing important and difficult public contact and liaison work with neighborhood association leaders and residents, external partners and City Council offices.
- Prepare written reports and presentations and manage overall program performance.
- Advise neighborhoods of City, council or private resources to improve, assist or resolve ongoing issues.
- Support the multiple program teams with projects and assignments.
- Developing, leading, and implementing newly established BeautifySJ Programs.
- Training and onboarding new staff into their roles and positions.
- Coordinating and managing partner contracts.
- Developing, coordinating, and executing project plans necessary to align new programs with existing program services.
- Advising neighborhoods of city, county, or private resources to improve or assist with solving complex neighborhood blight issues.
- Collecting and managing program data for reports and Council memos.
- Managing and coordinating the delivery of services as outlined in established partnership agreements.
- Preparing reports and presentations, and developing performance measures to evaluate program effectiveness and ensure goals are met
- Developing and executing interdepartmental and interagency action plans to address complex blight issues and coordinate responses among City and external partners.
- Connecting neighborhoods with City, County, State, and private resources to address community concerns and improve neighborhood conditions.
- Supporting the BeautifySJ Unit with additional projects and assignments as needed.
