Platform Engineer

This role sits within a global materials science and technology company's computing technologies group, supporting the cloud and Kubernetes platform that underpins internal engineering and business systems.

• AWS cloud infrastructure and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Kubernetes platform operations
• CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows

• Design, implement, and operate AWS cloud infrastructure and automation using Terraform
• Own EKS and Kubernetes platform operations, including cluster lifecycle, upgrades, and capacity planning
• Build and improve core Kubernetes platform capabilities such as networking, RBAC, and secrets management
• Develop and maintain deployment workflows using Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux
• Deploy and evolve observability capabilities, including metrics, logging, alerting, and dashboards
• Strengthen security across infrastructure, pipelines, and Kubernetes environments
• Support the reliability and operational performance of PostgreSQL and RDS environments
• Monitor system health, investigate incidents, and drive timely resolution through root cause analysis
• Lead technical decision making within the scope of the role, prioritizing work and evaluating tradeoffs
• Use modern AI tools to accelerate infrastructure design, troubleshooting, and documentation, while validating outputs for correctness and security

• 7 or more years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or a related role
• Strong hands on experience with AWS services and core networking and security concepts
• Advanced experience with Kubernetes, including cluster operations, autoscaling, and production workload management
• Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages

Preferred / Bonus Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform Experience with additional cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or Azure Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Loki Familiarity with compliance and governance requirements in regulated environments
