Long Term Care Mail Order Staff Pharmacist in Andover, MN

Job Description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in pharmacy within a specialized long-term care (LTC) and mail order environment. You will work varied shifts that include weekdays and weekends, ensuring consistent patient care over the 13-week contract duration.

Location: Andover, MN
Schedule:

Variable weekday shifts: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM / 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM / 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM (rotating weekly)
Weekend shifts (Saturday-Sunday): 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications according to legal and safety standards.
Monitor patient medication compliance, tracking over-usage and ensuring appropriate medication management.
Verify that prescribed medications are suitable and counsel patients on medication use, possible side effects, and answer any questions.
Maintain confidential patient records with precision and ensure proper management of pharmacy files.
Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
Educate patients on correct usage and handling of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict protocols.
Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to maintain smooth pharmacy operations.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve medication-related issues.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
Current Minnesota Pharmacy license.
Experience in long-term care pharmacy is highly preferred.
IV compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
