Hammer Head Security is seeking a professional, organized, and experienced Event Security Manager to oversee the successful planning and execution of security operations for assigned events and venues.

The Event Security Manager will have overall responsibility for the quality, performance, staffing, conduct, and operational effectiveness of the event security team. This position works closely with clients, Event Security Directors, Event Services Managers, Scheduling, venue representatives, law enforcement, Guest Services, talent/sports team security, and other outside agencies to ensure events are safe, secure, and professionally managed.

The ideal candidate is a confident leader who can manage large teams, anticipate operational challenges, communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, and remain calm and decisive in a fast-paced event environment.

Key Responsibilities

Event Security Operations & Management

• Manage and oversee all security operations for assigned events from pre-event planning through post-event completion.

• Develop, implement, and maintain event-specific security plans and post orders.

• Conduct initial training for all Event Security Officers, Event Leads, and Event Supervisors to ensure they are properly prepared to perform their assigned duties.

• Coordinate and oversee annual training for all Event Security Officers, Event Leads, and Event Supervisors, in coordination with the client, to ensure ongoing compliance with site-specific requirements, policies, and expectations.

• Work closely with the Event Security Director and Event Services Manager to understand event expectations, security requirements, operational objectives, and client expectations.

• Lead pre-event planning meetings, security briefings, and post-event debriefs as required.

• Ensure appropriate security coverage for entrances, exits, VIP areas, parking areas, backstage areas, restricted areas, credential checkpoints, and other designated locations.

• Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout events.

• Conduct regular inspections of security staff and security check points to ensure the event security operation is functioning effectively.

• Monitor crowd movement, access points, pedestrian flow, and overall event safety.

• Respond to emergencies, disturbances, medical situations, unauthorized access, security threats, and other urgent matters.

• Take appropriate action to de-escalate situations when asked to intervene by supervisor or leads while maintaining the safety of guests, employees, clients, and security personnel.

• Coordinate with venue management, local law enforcement, emergency personnel, client representatives, talent/sports team security, and outside agencies when necessary.

• Work closely with Guest Experience/Guest Services management to ensure effective coordination between Security and Guest Services.

• Conduct post-event security checks and ensure security personnel remain on duty until properly relieved or released.

• Prepare reports and conduct thorough investigations on potential security breaches and employee related issues

CCTV & Security Coverage Management

• Actively manage and oversee 168 hours of guard coverage dedicated to CCTV monitoring before, during and after assigned events.
• Ensure all Camera Monitoring Officers are properly staffed, briefed, attentive, and performing their assigned duties throughout their shifts.
• Maintain continuous coverage by managing breaks, lunches, shift changes, call-offs, and staffing issues.
• Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with post orders, client expectations, and company policies.
• Monitor and address performance, attendance, and coverage issues in real time.
• Coordinate with Event Leads, Supervisors, Dispatch, and Operations Management to promptly address security concerns and incidents.
• Maintain accountability for the continuity, effectiveness, and overall quality of CCTV monitoring operations throughout the event.

Security Staff Management & Leadership

• Manage the performance, conduct, attendance, professionalism, and overall effectiveness of security officers and supervisors assigned to events.

• Ensure all assigned personnel report to their posts on time, remain properly positioned, and perform their duties in accordance with company and event requirements.

• Address attendance issues, call-offs, late arrivals, post coverage concerns, performance deficiencies, and other staffing issues.

• Coordinate breaks and relief coverage while maintaining appropriate event security coverage.

• Train, coach, and develop event security officers, leads and supervisor.

• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and direction.

• Address performance and conduct issues and participate in disciplinary actions with HR when appropriate and in accordance with company policies.

• Develop and conduct security and safety training sessions for event security personnel.

• Promote professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and excellent customer service throughout the event security team.

• Provide leadership and direction during high-pressure or rapidly changing situations.

Security Staffing & Scheduling

• Manage and oversee scheduling for all security staff assigned to events, ensuring adequate coverage, proper staffing levels, and timely adjustments to meet operational needs.

• Actively support and lead recruiting initiatives to build a qualified pool of event security personnel with the skills and experience necessary for crowd control, access control, guest management, de-escalation, and other event-specific security functions.

• Review staffing requirements and identify potential coverage issues before events.

• Assist with staffing and deployment planning for event security operations as needed.

• Maintain oversight and accountability for hourly event security staffing and hours worked.

• Verify that assigned personnel are properly scheduled, accounted for, and deployed according to event requirements.

• Communicate staffing changes and operational concerns to management and Scheduling promptly.

• During weeks with reduced event activity, report to the Operations Manager, who will assign operational, administrative, recruiting, training, or other business-related tasks as needed.

Credentials & Access Control

• Lead all aspects of event credentials, access control, and proxy access procedures.

• Establish and maintain appropriate access-control procedures for staff, vendors, guests, VIPs, contractors, talent, and other authorized personnel.

• Ensure credential logs, access records, and related documentation are accurate and properly maintained.

• Coordinate with appropriate event personnel regarding credentialing and restricted-access areas.

• Identify and address unauthorized access attempts or credentialing concerns.

Documentation & Reporting

• Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timely completion of all required event security documentation.

• Review Daily Activity Reports (DARs), incident reports, shift reports, credential logs, and other event documentation.

• Ensure security incidents are accurately documented, including relevant times, locations, individuals involved, witnesses, and actions taken.

• Assist with administrative documentation, disciplinary notes, staffing records, and other operational documentation.

• Ensure all significant incidents and operational concerns are promptly communicated to management.

• Review event reports following each event and identify opportunities for improvement.

Client & External Relations

• Serve as a primary operational liaison between Hammer Head Security and designated event/client representatives.

• Attend weekly client meetings and other planning meetings as required.

• Establish and maintain professional working relationships with clients, venue representatives, law enforcement, emergency personnel, Guest Services, talent/sports team security, and outside agencies.

• Communicate proactively with clients and management regarding staffing, security concerns, incidents, operational challenges, and event performance.

• Represent Hammer Head Security professionally and maintain a high standard of customer service.

Compliance & Company Standards

• Ensure all event security personnel follow company policies, event-specific post orders, and applicable security procedures.

• Ensure security personnel maintain required licenses and qualifications.

• Enforce Observe & Report procedures and other company standards.

• Ensure proper use of company radios, smartphones, applications, reporting systems, and other operational technology.

• Immediately report significant safety, security, staffing, equipment, or operational concerns to management.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid California BSIS Guard Card required.

• Previous event security, security management, or security leadership experience strongly preferred.

• Experience managing or leading security personnel in large-scale events, venues, entertainment, sports, or hospitality environments preferred.

• Demonstrates excellent time-management skills and effectively prioritizes tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities.

• Demonstrated ability to manage both security officers and supervisors.

• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.

• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, management, law enforcement, venue personnel, and members of the public.

• Strong conflict-resolution and de-escalation skills.
