Job Description

The Phlebotomist II plays a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who can perform blood draws, label and centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate while updating patient information.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles and label specimens accurately.
• Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
• Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining integrity according to specific protocol.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

• 2-4 years of relevant experience.

This position is located at a Patient Service Center in Fishkill, NY. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with alternating Saturdays. The role requires working as part of a team with a daily requirement of 45-50 draws. The environment is professional and supportive, with training provided at the same location. The role involves working with patients of all ages and specialties.

This is a Contract position based out of Fishkill, NY.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
