Software Development Engineer, Data Analytics

Salary: $168,400 - 193,500 per year Requirements:

• We require 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• We require 5+ years of programming experience in at least one software language.
• We require 5+ years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including patterns for reliability and scaling.
• We require experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead.
• We prefer 5+ years across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• We prefer a bachelors degree in computer science or an equivalent background.

• We develop and refine core query engine and open table format components, including Iceberg, Hudi, and Delta, to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
• We design and implement new approaches and algorithms that strengthen feature depth, stability, and security in engine and table format integrations.
• We work with open-source communities, contributing to discussions, advancing enhancements, and incorporating upstream changes.
• We ensure data consistency and durability while delivering exceptional performance and scale for large data lake workloads.
• We strengthen our automation and testing capabilities.
• We manage complex project deliverables and research work to deadline.
• We mentor and coach team members on design methods and coding best practices.
• We serve as a point of contact for difficult customer issues related to data lake workloads and query engines.
• We solve complex technical problems across the stack, from design through deployment and maintenance.
• We create metrics, automation, and other improvements, and we help drive root-cause analysis for software defects.
• We participate in design reviews, code reviews, and cross-functional discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
• We contribute technical input to business decisions and work in a fast-moving, startup-like development environment.
