Director Of Nursing

The Director of Nursing (DON) is an administrative leadership position responsible for oversight of the College's Nursing programs, including accreditation, curriculum, compliance, faculty support, clinical partnerships, and student success.

Essential Duties or Responsibilities

The essential duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Leadership & Administration

• Provide strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and operational direction for Nursing programs and pathways.
• Hire, supervise, support, and evaluate Nursing faculty and staff.
• Participate in institutional planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.
• Represent the College in professional and community organizations.
• Develop, manage, and oversee Nursing program budgets, resources, and operational planning.

Curriculum & Instruction

• Coordinate curriculum development and program assessment.
• Coordinate instructional schedules and clinical placements.
• Oversee Kaplan or other testing systems.

Compliance & Accreditation

• Ensure compliance with ACEN, IDFPR, IDPH, ICCB, and related agencies.
• Serve as the official liaison for accreditation, regulatory reporting, program approval, and compliance-related activities associated with Nursing programs.

Student Success & Engagement

• Promote student success, retention, graduation, and NCLEX/licensure achievement.
• Maintain relationships with healthcare agencies and community partners.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience

• Master's degree in Nursing required
• Current, unencumbered Illinois RN license or eligibility for licensure
• Minimum of three years of leadership, administrative, accreditation, curriculum, clinical coordination, or faculty supervisory experience in Nursing education or related healthcare education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Nursing accreditation and regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in Nursing, Education, Leadership, or related field
• Community college leadership experience
• Experience with ACEN accreditation and Illinois nursing program approval processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration
• Knowledge of Nursing education trends and regulatory requirements
• Commitment to student success and continuous improvement.
