Service Worker Edison, NJ, US 7 days ago Requisition ID: 1190 Salary Range: $18.00 To $21.00 Annually Position Summary Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director/Pool Manager/Site Manager, the Assistant Pool Manager will be responsible for the safety of all members during the hours of the pool operation. The Assistant Pool Manager will also be responsible for the total operation of the pool in the absence of the Aquatic Leader and ensure staff are actively guarding and the pool is operating within the set guidelines. Essential Functions Arrive at work on time and prepared. Perform safety checks of equipment, including first aid kit, phones, rescue tubes, pool equipment. Enforce all pool rules in a firm, but tactful manner. Work with lifeguards as a team player, giving direction and displaying leadership qualities, ensuring all guards are actively scanning and patrolling their assigned sections. Provide breaks for guards as needed and scheduled to ensure the pool is always in guarding ratio. Ensure safety of members and patrons and prevent injuries by actively guarding and supervising pools by active scanning and patrolling. Ensure your personal protective gear (rescue breather, gloves, fanny pack) is all in good working order and accessible per safety standards as well as ensuring all guards on deck have their PPE in order. Have a complete understanding of, and be familiar with all emergency procedures, buzzers, buttons and YMCA standards, operations and protocols. Ensure security of pool when leaving the pool area – no pool is ever left unguarded for any reason, at any time. Pool and pool deck must be vacated by all when guard must leave pool area. React immediately to signs of individuals in distress. Administer first aid to victims using OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Universal Precautions. Provide immediate care to sustain life until EMS arrives. Complete all incident, assist and save reports at time of incident, including all pertinent information. Reports must be legible and state the facts as witnessed by the guard. Maintain all aquatic standards and rules. Ensure no distractions or interference with the ability to hear or see signs of distress. Adherence to all bathing code regulations, standards and safety measures. Must keep all certifications current and have the ability to provide documentation of certifications at all times when requested. Wear proper YMCA professional appearance policy attire as well as have all proper safety equipment (whistle, tube, fanny pack, etc) on persons at all time. Participate as part of the Aquatic Team in providing a safe and enjoyable, member friendly environment. Respect coworkers by arriving on time and in accordance with scheduled hours. Communicate all pool rules and policies in a friendly but firm manner. Interact with pool members and guests in a member friendly manner. Address concerns when possible; refer to Aquatic leader when necessary. Monitor and assist in cleanliness of pool and pool deck. Prepare necessary reports when needed. Attend mandatory meetings as required. Keep the Aquatic Director and Assistant leadership team apprised of activities, situations or problems in the pool area. Requirements Current lifeguarding, First-Aid, CRP/AED and Oxygen certification. Must be 18 years of age and preferably 2 years of active guarding experience. Mature and responsible who can react without hesitation in a professional manner and assume the point role in the event of emergency. Ability to enforce all pool rules fairly, effectively in a positive manner. Ability to use water testing kit and be part of the team accurately reflecting results. Ability to see and hear individuals and alarms in pool/pool area. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Must have sound knowledge of the use of a backboard and cervical collar. Needs to be able to supervise other individuals in a firm, but caring and empathetic manner. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Sufficient strength and skill technique to control and rescue struggling adult swimmers, lifting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, concentration, attention and focus to one area for extended periods of time, warm weather outdoor work, average to warm in-door and out-door pool heat and humidity. #J-18808-Ljbffr Ymcaofmewsa
