Phlebotomist

Location: Rockville, MD and Gaithersburg MD (working at both locations) | Schedule: Contract, full-time, on-site, M-F 7am to 5pm (may vary depending on location worked) Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to support laboratory operations across two Maryland locations. This is a contract role with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent placement, offering the opportunity to apply specimen collection expertise in a fast-paced clinical environment. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed, as required in some states Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED minimum 2 years of experience Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Why this role This contract position offers the potential to convert to a permanent role, along with available benefits, for candidates with strong phlebotomy experience across two convenient Maryland locations, Rockville, MD and Gaithersburg MD. #J-18808-Ljbffr
