General Production

This general production role supports multiple manufacturing departments in a large, 24/7 plastic extrusion facility. You will train on day shift before moving into your assigned schedule and contribute to core production activities on Laminator, Knitting, Roll Converter, Converter, Extruder, and Accessories lines. The position involves hands-on work with machinery, materials, and quality checks in a fast-paced environment that requires reliability, physical stamina, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist production on Laminator, Knitting, Roll Converter, Converter, Extruder, and Accessories lines as assigned.
• Perform core extracting on multiple lines, ensuring safe and efficient handling of materials.
• Wrap rolls of product and prepare materials for further processing or packaging.
• Monitor the extrusion process and report any irregularities or quality concerns.
• Mix chemicals according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Use lift-assist equipment and other tools to move materials safely and efficiently.
• Lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift, including bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling an air bar into cores.
• Stand for long periods of time while operating or assisting with machinery.
• Walk up stairs and work on catwalks in certain roles, remaining comfortable with heights where required.
• Conduct basic inspection and quality checks to identify defects or issues with product.
• Perform general production tasks including assembly, packaging, machine operation, and general labor duties as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Document relevant production or quality information with attention to detail.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about progress, issues, and action items that need to be addressed.
• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and perform assigned tasks.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous manufacturing experience in a production environment.
• Previous machine operation experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to work scheduled hours, including long shifts and rotating schedules, and consistently arrive on time.
• Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
• Comfort working in a large industrial facility, including climbing stairs and working on catwalks where required.
• Strong attention to quality and ability to notice potential product or process issues.
• Good attitude and willingness to perform all aspects of the job, as demonstrated during plant tours.
• Basic problem-solving skills and analytical ability to identify and address production or process issues.
• Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and other team members, reporting progress and explaining data or action items.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and consistently wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe or composite shoes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Two years of recent manufacturing experience with the same company is preferred.
• Experience with production, general manufacturing, and machine operation is highly beneficial.
• Experience in inspection, assembly, packaging, general production, and general labor tasks.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and accurate documentation of production or quality information.
• Comfort working in roles that may require the use of respirators in certain departments.
• Ability to adapt to different departments and lines within a 24/7 operation.
• Willingness to work various shifts, including day and night schedules, 12-hour shifts, and rotating 2-3-2 schedules.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very large plastic extrusion manufacturing facility operating around the clock. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with exposure to machinery, moving materials, and production lines. Shifts vary by department and may include 12-hour schedules such as 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. in Laminator, Knitting, Converter, and Roll Converter departments, as well as rotating 2-3-2 schedules. Some positions train on 8-hour day shifts before moving to longer shifts, and Accessories department roles may work 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. after daytime training. Employees must wear full personal protective equipment at all times, including safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel-toe or composite shoes; some departments also require respirators. Work involves standing for long periods, frequent lifting, bending, twisting, climbing stairs, and working on catwalks, reflecting a physically demanding but structured production environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saginaw, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
