Job Description

Step into an impactful role supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in an elementary school setting as a professional Sign Language Interpreter. Located in the vibrant community near Lehigh Acres, FL, this full-time, on-site opportunity runs from August 11, 2026, to May 27, 2027. You will play a key part in nurturing student success through clear, effective communication in a welcoming educational environment.

Your primary responsibility will be interpreting for DHH students at an elementary school, working both 1:1 and potentially with small groups. This position offers a consistent full-time schedule of up to 37.5 hours per week at one school location, allowing you to build lasting connections and make a meaningful difference in students’ daily experiences.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Current EIPA score of 3.0 or above
Experience in educational interpreting, preferably with elementary-age children
Comfortable with both one-on-one and group interpreting in classroom settings
Ability to complete all required fingerprinting and clearances within designated timelines (previous prints may be valid if available through the AHCA Clearinghouse)
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities:

Provide sign language interpretation for DHH students during instructional and extracurricular activities
Foster positive communication between students, educators, and staff
Adapt interpreting style to meet the needs of individual students and classroom dynamics
Ensure confidentiality and uphold professionalism in all interactions
