Patient Care Assistant

Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services

Role: The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides continuous observation and personalized care for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Key Responsibilities Maintain one-on-one monitoring of assigned patients to ensure safety and well-being. Implement evidence-based de-escalation techniques when necessary. Assist with direct patient care tasks such as taking vital signs and transporting patients. Stock linens and supplies, document observations and interventions accurately in electronic records, and prioritize tasks efficiently. Alert nursing staff to any changes in patient condition and maintain a calm, professional demeanor. Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to patient observation. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High School Diploma or equivalent required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. Preferred: at least one year of healthcare experience and familiarity with medical terminology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) preferred.
