Sonographer - General and Vascular

Flexible Shift Monday‑Friday 7:00 am‑3:30 pm or 8:00 am‑4:30 pm. Pay $40.00‑$50.00 per hour based on experience. Role Provide mobile ultrasound service. Majority of work performed in various nursing homes, home‑care facilities, prisons, and processing sites throughout the regions serviced by Diagnostic Laboratories, traveling in an automobile to the location. Tasks and Responsibilities Login for self‑dispatching or call into the dispatch department to obtain information regarding beginning case load. Arrive at the first case at the start of assigned shift or leave home at least 30 minutes prior. Unload portable sonographic equipment and transport to facility to perform exams ordered by physician. Must obtain clinically diagnostic, technically competent images. Perform and process ultrasounds using portable sonographic equipment and digitally send to a radiologist for interpretation. Check voicemail from each client’s facility upon completion of assigned case(s); or at least every 30 minutes as necessary. Check for available cases via self‑dispatching system and/or check in with dispatcher on duty every 30 minutes as necessary. Wear company uniform, name tag, and follow dress code. Carry company‑provided phone on person. Respond to all urgent communication within 15 minutes. Attend meetings as required. Upon arriving at facility, all orders must be checked for accuracy against the exams listed in patient’s chart as ordered by physician. If orders differ or are missing, exam cannot be completed until appropriate order is documented to match requisition. Verify correct patient by asking for two identifiers (name, DOB). Do not ask yes/no questions. If patient cannot identify themselves, nurse in charge must identify. Document nurse’s name on requisition and tech’s comments. Facility staff conduct any required patient transfers, support, positioning, and assistance. Technologists shall not engage in transfers or assistance activities. Maintain medical physical examinations and TB screening at time of hire and annually, along with annual infection control in‑service. Documentation must be provided to TridentCare HR within two weeks of last annual exam. Scan exam‑related paperwork/billing on a daily basis per protocol. Communicate efficiently and perform professionally with call center, dispatch, peers, supervisory staff, and clients. Maintain vehicle and sonographic equipment. Maintain high standard of medical ethics, be self‑motivated to increase knowledge of field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Required Skills Graduate of accredited diagnostic ultrasound technology program. Maintain required certification and registries, health requirements, and operational requirements. Provide copy of registries and/or diploma to TridentCare personnel when requested. Carry credentials at all times. For sonographers with company owned, leased, or rented vehicles: responsible for paying all motor vehicle tickets, including parking and speeding tickets. Maintain valid driver’s license at all times and produce license upon request. Provide copy(s) to TridentCare personnel. All associates subject to periodic driver’s license checks. Alcohol, illegal substances, or weapon possession prohibited. Maintain drug‑free workplace policy and update criminal background as per handbook. Behave and conduct ourselves in professional, ethical manner per Code of Conduct. Care for equipment professionally; report malfunction to supervisor immediately. Train other technologists as required. Self‑motivated, dependable, work independently with little to no direct supervision. Pass drug screening and background check. Good organizational skills. Perform basic smartphone operation and basic computer skills (printing, scanning, attaching documents). Knowledge of applicable regions, geography, and travel routes. Pleasant phone manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Lift the equipment bag into and out of vehicle/cart requires 18‑20 lbs of force; bag on wheeled cart pulled up to 250 ft, initiating 10 lbs, sustained 5‑8 lbs. Work Environment Standard medical laboratory environment; potential health hazards. Staff expected to safely operate following health and safety policies. Associates work in all weather and driving conditions.
