Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner - Urgent Care in Richmond, Virginia.
Shift: 8a-8p shifts; shifts will be 12+ hours depending upon patient flow; 3 shifts/week
Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Position Details:

• Coverage location: Richmond, VA (multiple locations across the Richmond area)
• Clinics are open 7 days a week
• 100% outpatient setting
• Average patient volume ranges from 25-50 patients per day
• Coverage needed due to provider resignations and staffing shortages

Patient Population: Birth to death; varies by clinic and day
Setting: Clinic
Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat urgent care patients
• See all patients arriving during operational hours
• Manage episodic illnesses and injuries
• Determine when patients require transfer to a higher level of care

Required Procedures:

• Laceration repair (simple, intermediate, and complex suturing or stapling)
• Incision and drainage (I&D), including packing
• Foreign body removal
• Minor burn management
• Skin lesion care
• Orthopedic injury stabilization
• Splinting and casting
• Joint reduction
• X-Ray interpretation
• Electrocardiogram (EKG) evaluation
• Point-of-care lab interpretation
• Epistaxis management
• Cerumen impaction removal
• Airway support and nebulizer treatments

EMR System: Epic
Days Per Month: 3 shifts/week
On-Call/Weekends: No call required; weekends required

Requirements:
- Board Certified - Required
- Active VA License - Required
- Active BLS - Required
- Active DEA - Required
- At least 1 year of experience in an ED/ER, primary care, or urgent care setting - Required
- Clean background/no malpractice or license issues, no exceptions - Required
