Our client is seeking a Phlebotomist, also known as a Patient Service Floater, to perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities across various regional patient service centers and client clinic locations. This position provides coverage where needed, requiring flexibility and local/regional travel. The Floater interacts directly with patients, providers, and clinical staff in a professional manner, accurately executing clinical specimen collections, processing, and data entry in strict accordance with laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.

• Specimen Collection & Patient Care: Perform venipunctures, capillary collections, and non-blood specimen collections (e.g., urine, fecal) safely and accurately. Explain collection procedures clearly to patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure a comfortable environment.
• Specimen Processing & Packaging: Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes. Centrifuge, split, freeze, label, and package samples according to specific temperature and transport requirements to maintain specimen integrity.
• Regional Travel & Coverage: Travel to client clinic assignments within a designated region on short notice to provide scheduling coverage. Maintain accurate travel and expense logs.
• Order Entry & Requisition Processing: Enter patient demographics, insurance details, and order info accurately into laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Contact provider offices to verify missing test orders, diagnosis codes, or patient details.
• Lab Safety & Compliance: Properly dispose of biohazard materials, sharps, and fluids per state and federal guidelines. Maintain clean, compliant draw stations, utilize proper PPE, and adhere to strict HIPAA confidentiality protocols.
• Clerical & Inventory Support: Maintain daily patient collection logs, assist with periodic inventory counts, report supply shortages, and perform basic administrative tasks (filing, faxing, answering phone inquiries).

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Formal medical training (Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or Phlebotomy program) preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (fewer than 3 minor moving violations in the past 3 years).
• Reliable personal vehicle, proof of auto insurance.

• 1 to 3+ years of hands-on phlebotomy and specimen processing experience.

• Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary, and non-blood specimen collection techniques.
• Ability to process, centrifuge, split, freeze, label, and package samples according to specific protocols.
• Accurate data entry into laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety, biohazard disposal, and HIPAA confidentiality protocols.
• Effective communication skills for patient interaction and verifying information with provider offices.
• Basic administrative and clerical support skills (filing, faxing, answering phones, inventory support).
• Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to travel regionally for coverage.

• Willingness to travel regionally (occasional overnight stays may be required).
