Chief Financial Officer

Responsibilities


Strategic Planning & Leadership:

• Partners with executive leadership to define and execute company's long and short-term strategic plans.
• Provides financial leadership in evaluating growth opportunities, market expansion strategies, new business initiatives, and emerging industry trends and risks.
• Leads enterprise-wide planning processes, including strategic planning, annual budgeting, and multi-year forecasting.
• Designs, monitors, and provides actionable insights into key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure organizational performance, profitability, productivity, growth, and operational efficiency.
  • Drives continuous improvement in financial reporting, analytics, forecasting, and business intelligence capabilities.

Capital Allocations & Investment

• Leads enterprise capital allocation and investment strategies to support organizational growth, financial performance, and long-term value creation.
• Evaluates and oversee capital investments, funding strategies, and financial resources to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and risk tolerance.
• Leads financial analysis, due diligence, and decision-making related to investments, financing opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
• Advises executive leadership and the Board on capital deployment, investment performance, and opportunities impacting the Association's financial strength and future growth.

Stakeholder Relations:

• Serves as a trusted financial spokesperson for employees, Board of Directors, regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.

• Presents financial results, strategic initiatives, capital planning activities, risk assessments, and business performance updates to the Board and Board committees, identifying key information and developing recommendations
• Supports transparency and confidence through accurate financial reporting and effective stakeholder communications.

Risk & Governance:

• Identifies macro and micro financial risks, ensuring fiscal stability and regulatory compliance.
• Ensures effective internal control, financial reporting, and governance frameworks are maintained to safeguard assets, support regulatory compliance, and promote organizational accountability.
• Promotes a culture of accountability, transparency, ethical decision-making, and sound financial stewardship.

Leadership & Team Development:

• Develops, coaches, and mentors finance team members to build organizational capability, succession readiness, and high-performance outcomes.
• Communicates executive and Board decisions by providing clear direction, context, and expectations to direct reports, ensuring alignment and effective execution of priorities throughout the department.
• Establishes performance expectations and accountability measures that support company goals and employee development within the finance team.

Minimum Qualifying Characteristics:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related degree.
• Preferred - master's degree in business administration (MBA), Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Preferred - CPA, CFA, or CMA
• 10 years of experience in complex accounting work, corporate finance and executive leadership, and 3 years supervision experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
• Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate opportunities from both financial and strategic perspectives.
• Expertise in enterprise risk management, governance, regulatory compliance, and financial controls.
• Strong strategic planning, business analytics, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities.
• Exceptional communication, sufficient to effectively collaborate with and communicate complex topics with boards, executives, regulators, and external stakeholders.
• Skill in quickly understanding and addressing business situations, including opportunities and risks
• Skill in guiding individuals and teams to achieve organizational goals
• Strong leadership capability with the ability to build and develop high-performing teams.

This position is full time and is benefits eligible. Occasional travel may be required to sufficiently support other locations within territory.

Salary Range: $245,000 - $280,000

This range is a good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of this posting. Actual salaries could vary and may be above or below the range as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2. Variation is based on various factors including but not limited to location, qualifications, experience, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions. In addition, benefits for this position include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, 401k, tax advantage accounts, paid vacation, sick leave and parental leave.
