Summary: Direct Material Buyer will coordinate activities involved with procuring specific direct materials (balls, cages, rings, etc.) for bearing manufacturing facility.

Key Functions:

• Reviews and updates vendor sequence lists to plan and expedite procurement of materials.
• Emails sequence list detailing current and upcoming orders to vendors.
• Confers with vendors on availability and delivery of materials; negotiates changes to orders and delivery deadlines based on planning schedules and forecasts.
• Reviews invoice work cues to verify pricing on orders against pricing on quote.
• Addresses vendor inquiries regarding payment and/or sends invoice for processing of payment.
• Reviews Material Requirement Plan to compare purchase orders against inventory.
• Contacts vendors to expedite orders to ensure sufficient materials on hand or to place future orders on hold to reduce on-site direct materials inventory.
• Emails/releases orders to vendors and updates sequence list to reflect open/current status of orders.
• Generates computerized grease purchase orders as needed; prepares grease forecast to assist with planning for expenditures.
• May address inquiries from financial personnel regarding invoicing and payment discrepancies; may address and resolve questions for customs pertaining to foreign orders.
• Creates spreadsheet to delineate vendor price quotes for materials.
• Generates and maintains purchasing reports for month-end and cost down activities
• Reports include month end cost down report, vendor performance, cost down comparison, etc.
• Completes monthly vendor performance reports.
• Analyzes timeliness of deliveries; adjusts for inventory - hold requests.
• Emails preliminary report to corporate office for review; updates vendor performance report with remarks/response from corporate.
• Analyzes and corrects orders rejected by Basware purchasing software/materials management.
• Reviews purchase order in XA; makes corrections, manually keying in missing data to override the receipt exception.
• Updates vendors price listing in XA according with the information provided by Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• 3 - 5 years of previous Supply Chain/Buying experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and credibly.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
• Self-starting individual who possesses resilience and adaptability to solve problems.
• Ability to discern priorities and remain organized as business needs evolve
• Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and possess the courage to intervene.
Preferred experience with XA & Power BI.
