Haul Truck Operator

Job Summary This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating off-highway haul trucks (off-road) to transport crushed stone, sand and gravel, and other materials within quarries, pits, yards, and/or plants. The Off-Road Haul Truck Driver will operate a rigid frame and/or articulated haul trucks of varying sizes, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials while adhering to all Vulcan and government rules and regulations. Essential Functions Operate off-road haul trucks to transport material within Vulcan facilities. Maintain a thorough understanding of truck controls and functions, potentially including air brakes, emergency procedures, and safe operating practices. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns. Perform basic maintenance checks on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, functionality and tire pressure. Collaborate with maintenance teams for repairs and preventive maintenance. Some instances will require washing of the haul truck to facilitate a thorough inspection can be completed using high pressure hose, steam cleaner or pressure washer. Finds practical solutions, implements fixes, and adapts to unexpected challenges. Safety Awareness: Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments. Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, coordinating with other operators and ground personnel. Technical Expertise: Solid mechanical understanding of equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues.
