We are seeking team-oriented Crisis Consultant Interns to provide hotline services including mental health support, crisis de-escalation, and give information, resources and referrals to callers. Gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting individuals and communities in moments of need. We offer flexible work hours with occasional weekend and overnight shifts. This is a great opportunity for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in psychology, social work, public health, human services or related fields. As a Crisis Consultant Intern your job duties and responsibilities will be: Assist callers in crisis by providing emotional support, crisis de-escalation and safety planning. Utilize active listening techniques to assist callers in de-escalating crises. Provide immediate telephone crisis management to callers identified at risk for suicide or other mental health emergency and assist in stabilization of the caller. Coordinate with other agencies and law enforcement as needed to assist callers in response to crisis. Establish a rapport with callers and assist the caller to handle the presenting concern. Maintain current knowledge of community resources to aid callers in providing appropriate linkage to needed services and supports. Maintain accurate and timely documentation. Qualifications Must be 18+ years of age. GED or high school diploma required. Some college is preferred. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations. Reliable and organized with attention to detail. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
