Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in any of our California offices. This role supports planning, design, and delivery of electrical power systems for water, wastewater, industrial, manufacturing, and MEP infrastructure projects.

The person in this role will join a growing technical services practice that brings practical electrical engineering solutions to facilities and industrial clients across the United States.

You'll collaborate with architects, multidiscipline engineers, designers, clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction to move projects from concept through construction support.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll contribute across electrical design, technical analysis, interdisciplinary coordination, and construction-phase support.

• Design electrical systems: Develop power generation and distribution, grounding, lightning protection, public address (PA) systems, audiovisual (A/V) systems, data/telecom, fire alarm, cabling/cable trays, wiring, switchboards, service entrance, panelboards, and motor control centers, and specialty systems for industrial and MEP facility environments.
• Perform engineering analyses: Complete calculations for voltage drop, fault study, electrical load studies, power flow, UPS and standby generator sizing, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc-flash hazard analyses.
• Prepare design deliverables: Contribute to reports, construction plans, specifications, panel schedules, conduit schedules, conductor sizing, bus ducts, and HVAC equipment power schedules.
• Use design platforms: Work in Revit, AutoCAD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting), SKM, ETAP, AGI32 for lighting calculations and design, and BIM-based design environments to produce coordinated design documents.
• Coordinate technical interfaces: Align Building Automation Systems (BAS), Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, control schematics, process equipment needs, and interdisciplinary design requirements.
• Support construction administration: Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and contractor questions for compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, NFPA standards, and AHJ requirements.
• Guide technical growth: Mentor junior engineers and provide quality-focused technical direction.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 7+ years of post-graduate electrical engineering experience, preferably supporting industrial, interior facilities, and MEP-related projects.
• Design tools: Revit and AutoCAD proficiency required, as well as advanced 3D/BIM modeling capability to produce 2D construction documents.
• Certifications, licenses, or professional registrations: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required in California, with ability to obtain licensure in additional states through reciprocity.
• Travel: Ability to attend client workshops, meetings, and site visits as project needs require.

Salary range for this position is anticipated to be $115,000 to $165,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
