Senior Accounting Technician

Headquarters: Miami, FL / Remote / Hybrid / Tampa, FL Job Title: Senior Accounting Technician Employment Type: Full-Time, Mid-Level Department: Finance Job Summary Support the mission of a large federal agency by managing accounts payable, reimbursement activities, collections, and overall account oversight. Utilize a variety of financial management systems to analyze, reconcile, and report financial data for DOJ and other U.S. Government agencies. Responsibilities Adjust payroll/labor transactions via re‑org processing. Process federal government travel in accordance with policies and regulations. Verify, analyze, and maintain financial information used by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller. Use electronic software and databases (UFMS, JEDI, JEDI‑2, SAFARI, E‑2, SAMS.gov) to analyze complex data sets. Record and retrieve financial data related to reimbursable and billing processes. Track expenditures across multiple accounts using financial management systems. Generate reconciliation reports and reconcile financial books/reports weekly. Prepare financial reports and documentation for review and signature by DOJ and other U.S. agencies. Assist DOJ sections in UFMS transaction processing and suggest system error resolutions. Compose memorandums, letters to vendors and agencies, and other correspondence. Manage databases, office files, routing paperwork, scheduling and assisting with web conferences, and preparing meeting rooms and office events. Perform other duties as assigned or on own initiative for regular or special projects. Contribute to team efforts as needed. Qualifications Two‑year degree in accounting or four‑year degree in finance, business, banking, or economics with 30 credit hours in accounting. Knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems used by banking, financial and other institutions. Experience with commitments, obligations, and interagency reimbursement agreements. Experience with quarterly review, accrual, and closeout processes. Strong analytical and technical support skills for a variety of financial activities. Ability to analyze changes in budgetary and/or financial activities. Up‑to‑date U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with UFSM, JEDI, SAFARI, E‑2, and Excel. Budgeting cycle management, financial management, and A/P and A/R processing. Reimbursable agreements analysis, obligations processing, committed fund tracking. Experience with auditing, accounting services, cash flow analysis, and statistical analysis. Financial fraud research, electronic data acquisition and processing, systems analysis and administration. Database user support, reporting, record management, and business legal compliance. Special project experience and strong analytical, critical thinking, time management, and organization skills. Advanced Excel proficiency including formatting, sorting, data correction, table array, SUM, MAX/MIN, VLOOKUP, TRIM, PivotTable, and arithmetic formulas.
