General Trades Worker

The purpose of this position is to perform preventive maintenance, installation, construction, remodeling and repair work on plant facilities, services and production equipment. Responsible for utilizing a variety of skills including carpenter, millwright, pipefitter, welder, tinner and mechanic. Works from complex three-dimensional blueprints, sketches, written and verbal instructions.

Purpose of Role: Performs maintenance, installation, construction, remodeling, major overhauls, and repairs to all types of plant facilities and equipment. Maintains production machinery and equipment requiring the use of trades and mechanics tools such as: Drill press, grinder, welder, saws, pipe threader, cutting torch, belter, shear, bending brake, forklift truck, hand tools, etc. Demonstrates competency in the following areas: Machine maintenance and repair Rigging equipment and handling Installation of machinery and equipment Pipefitting Cutting and welding Sheet metal working General Carpentry

Day to Day Responsibilities: Performing various maintenance tasks on plant facilities and equipment. Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. Responsible for understanding and following applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

Education & Experience: New York State Journeyman card in applicable trade is required. 2 to 4 years' experience is preferred. Experience in manufacturing maintenance is desired. Requires the willingness and ability to work off shifts (2nd and/or 3rd), holidays and weekends. This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The starting pay for this position is $36.12 hourly rate. Compensation and benefits available for this position are dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
