Harrison Gray Search has partnered with a growing 3PL company to find a Logistics Sales Specialist with a portable book of business. Our client operates both a successful asset-based carrier division and a rapidly scaling logistics brokerage sister company. As they expand, they are seeking a dedicated customer sales professional to drive new account acquisition while leveraging their deep operational capabilities. Because the brokerage side is scaling, early sales hires have direct influence over desk growth and strategic direction.

This is a pure hunting and account growth role: bring your book, acquire new shipper accounts, and hand off execution to a dedicated, in-house carrier coordination team. No cold-calling truckers or chasing capacity—focus entirely on customer sales and account management.

We are seeking an experienced Freight Customer Sales Broker with a proven, portable book of customer accounts. You will own shipper relationships end-to-end, supported by a dedicated team of 4–5 carrier sales coordinators (part of a 20-person operations department) who handle sourcing, dispatch, and load execution.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI — Hybrid (1–2 days on-site per week to collaborate with operations)

Employment Type: Full-Time | W2 or 1099 Independent Agent

Compensation Structure: Commission-based — aggressive, uncapped commission splits tailored to the size, revenue, and complexity of your portable book of business

Reporting: Reports to internal logistics management; works directly alongside dedicated carrier sales teams

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Acquisition: Prospect, pitch, and close new direct shipper accounts (this role does not rely on internal asset overflow).
• Account Portfolio Management: Manage and grow your existing book of customer accounts across an unrestricted national territory.
• Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary contact for shippers, collaborating with internal operations to ensure service levels, pricing, and capacity commitments are met.
• Team Collaboration: Work alongside the Grand Rapids-based carrier coordination team who source trucks, books drivers, and execute daily logistics.
• Strategic Input: Provide input on account pricing and strategy for complex accounts (e.g., Tier 2/3/4 automotive suppliers).

What You Bring

• Customer Sales Experience: 3–4+ years of direct experience in customer-facing freight sales/business development (this is not a carrier sales, load-coverage, or entry-level role).
• Portable Book of Business: A verifiable book of shipper accounts—ideally 2,500+ loads/year or $5M+ in annual customer revenue.
• Industry Verticals: Open across all shipping sectors; experience with Tier 2/3/4 automotive supply chain freight is a strong plus.
• Proximity: Ability to be in the Grand Rapids office 1–2 days a week to stay integrated with operational support.
