MECA Therapies is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our growing pediatric therapy team.
As the largest pediatric rehabilitation provider in New Mexico, MECA is committed to helping children and families achieve their highest level of independence through exceptional, family-centered care. Our Occupational Therapists provide services in homes and community settings, working collaboratively with families and interdisciplinary teams to support children from birth to age three with developmental delays and diagnosed conditions.

Position Summary
The Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive evaluations, treatment, and family-centered intervention services for infants and toddlers with developmental, sensory, neurological, orthopedic, and other medical conditions. Services are delivered in natural environments, including homes and community settings, while collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams to promote functional independence, developmental progress, and participation in everyday activities.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy.
- Current or eligible licensure through the New Mexico Board of Occupational Therapy.
- Current driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Preferred
- Pediatric occupational therapy experience.
- Early Intervention experience.
- Experience with sensory integration, feeding, adaptive equipment, and developmental interventions.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations using standardized assessment tools.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, developmental needs, and family priorities.
- Provide evidence-based occupational therapy services in home and community settings.
- Evaluate and treat children with developmental delays, sensory processing challenges, fine motor delays, self-care deficits, feeding concerns, and other functional limitations within scope of practice.
- Participate in interdisciplinary evaluations and obtain IDA certification as required by the program.
- Educate and coach families on therapeutic strategies, home programs, adaptive techniques, and carryover activities to support progress during daily routines.
- Monitor treatment outcomes and modify intervention plans as appropriate.
- Complete evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, discharge summaries, and required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
- Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings, Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings (TTCMs), periodic reviews, annual reviews, and transition planning.
- Serve as Team Lead for assigned children when identified on the IFSP.
- Collaborate with physicians, Family Service Coordinators, educators, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, licensing, HIPAA, and MECA policies and procedures.
Caseload & Productivity Expectations
- Maintain an assigned caseload averaging approximately 27 direct therapy hours per week (or part-time equivalent).
- Provide services in accordance with each child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
- Meet established productivity expectations while delivering high-quality, family-centered care.
- Caseloads may be adjusted based on evaluations, supervision responsibilities, and program needs.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete treatment documentation at the time of service whenever possible and submit documentation daily.
- Complete progress reports and participate in six-month IFSP reviews and TTCMs.
- Complete FIT evaluation reports within three (3) business days unless prior approval has been obtained.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant medical records in accordance with HIPAA, payer, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and maintain documentation standards.
- Professional Development
- Maintain an active New Mexico Occupational Therapy license and complete all continuing education requirements.
- Obtain IDA certification as required by the program.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings, clinical trainings, and continuing education activities.
- Provide education and consultation to families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice development.
- Clinical Supervision Opportunities
- Experienced Occupational Therapists may have opportunities to supervise:
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs)
- Occupational Therapy students during clinical rotations
- Interns and observers
- Supervision responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the New Mexico Occupational Therapy Practice Act and applicable licensing board regulations.
