Position Summary

The Mail Sorter plays a critical role in nightly parcel movement within a fast‐paced distribution facility. This position ensures all incoming and outgoing mail is accurately scanned, sorted, staged, and routed according to operational standards. Ideal candidates thrive in active environments, maintain strong attention to detail, and follow digital instructions with consistency.

Key Responsibilities

• Inbound Parcel Processing — Receive mail from incoming trailers, unload containers, and place items onto designated sorting lines
• Scanning & Labeling — Use handheld scanners or tablets to verify barcodes, update parcel status, and ensure correct routing
• Sorting by Zone — Organize parcels by route, zip code, zone, or carrier requirements; maintain accuracy during high‐volume periods
• Line Flow Management — Keep packages moving smoothly through conveyor lines; clear jams, reposition items, and communicate with line leads
• Staging & Palletizing — Build pallets or containers according to load plans; wrap, label, and prepare outbound shipments
• Quality & Compliance Checks — Confirm labels match destination, remove damaged parcels from the line, and report discrepancies
• General Warehouse Support — Assist with housekeeping, equipment resets, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment

Physical & Skill Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
• Comfortable standing, bending, and walking for 4-8–10 hour shifts
• Basic ability to use handheld scanners, tablets, or digital work instructions
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy
• Reliable transportation for late‐night or early‐morning shift times
• Ability to work in a team‐driven, production‐focused environment

Work Environment

• Fast‐paced distribution facility with continuous parcel movement
• Exposure to varying temperatures depending on dock activity
• Frequent interaction with line leads, supervisors, and other sorters
• Noise level consistent with conveyor belts, forklifts, and industrial equipment

Dress Code

• Comfortable warehouse‐appropriate clothing
• No loose jewelry, accessories, or items that may interfere with machinery
