Job Summary The Chief of Staff, MSO is a high‑impact, high‑visibility individual contributor who serves as the strategic operating partner to the President of the Managed Services Organization (MSO). This role owns the operational cadence of the President’s office while leading cross‑functional initiatives that span multiple departments. The Chief of Staff partners closely with the President’s direct reports, senior leadership, finance, and external stakeholders to ensure priorities are clear, decisions are informed, and commitments are met. Responsibilities Drive the Operating Rhythm of the MSO Executive Office : Build and lead the daily operational cadence of the President’s office—including preparing materials for leadership meetings, board presentations, and executive offsites—and ensuring that the right people have the right information at the right time. Serve as the Connective Tissue Between the President’s Priorities and the Broader MSO Leadership Team : Translate direction into structured, actionable plans. Lead and Advance Cross‑Functional Strategic Initiatives : Own end‑to‑end project management and execution of enterprise‑wide strategic initiatives, tracking milestones, managing dependencies, escalating risks, and ensuring action items are followed through to completion. Serve as the President’s Thought Partner and Information Hub : Filter and prioritize incoming inquiries, assess requests for urgency, provide analysis and recommendations on high‑stakes decisions, and stand in on meetings when the President’s bandwidth is constrained. Monitor and Advance Progress Against Organizational Priorities : Proactively track the MSO’s highest‑priority commitments, identify early warning signs of delays or misalignment, and surface issues directly to the President with actionable recommendations. Facilitate Cross‑Functional Communication and Stakeholder Alignment : Create and maintain communication frameworks, meeting structures, and relationship management systems that keep the organization aligned. Build and Maintain Strategic Stakeholder Relationships : Manage the President’s key relationships—internal leaders, external partners, vendors, and board‑level stakeholders—and prepare briefing materials for high‑stakes interactions. Develop and Present Executive‑Level Analysis and Communications : Produce high‑quality written and visual communications—including memos, board‑level presentations, and analytical reports—translating complex information into clear narratives that drive alignment and action. Other Duties and Projects Other duties and projects not listed above. Supervisory Responsibility This role is an individual contributor with no direct reports or formal supervisory authority. The Chief of Staff exercises significant influence across all levels of the MSO and enterprise through relationship, credibility, and delegated authority, not through formal people management. Requirements Experience : 10+ years in management consulting, project management, or high‑impact operational roles. 5+ years as a chief of staff in executive operations, strategic consulting, or a closely adjacent function—ideally within healthcare, managed care, or complex services—supporting C‑suite or senior executive leaders in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment. Demonstrated track record of owning and delivering complex, cross‑functional initiatives from inception through execution without direct authority. Experience developing executive‑level communications, presentations, and analytical materials for senior and board‑level audiences. Comfortable operating in ambiguity—able to move quickly, exercise independent judgment, and maintain composure when priorities shift. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (equivalent education and experience may be considered). Preferred Education : MBA or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), or related graduate field. Training : Proficiency in executive communication tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint or equivalent), familiarity with project tracking and OKR frameworks. Preference for formal certification in project management (PMP or equivalent). Specialized Skills : Executive communication and storytelling (advanced), strategic analysis and synthesis (advanced), cross‑functional project and initiative management (advanced), executive presence and stakeholder influence (advanced), emotional intelligence and organizational navigation (advanced), PowerPoint and executive presentation design (advanced), operational discipline and systems thinking (intermediate‑advanced). Physical Functions The physical demands include regularly talking or hearing, standing, walking, sitting, using hand to finger, handling objects or tools, reaching with hands and arms, and frequently lifting or moving up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
