Shift LeadThe Shift Lead's primary function is to assist the store management team in the overall operation and performance of the store, which includes sales, merchandising, animal care, cleaning, and adherence to all company guidelines and procedures. In this position you will be supporting the well-being of animals, and you will consistently strive to enhance the lives of pets and their people when they are shopping at Pet Supermarket. The Shift Lead will drive the achievement of daily sales goals and complete tasks as assigned by store management to ensure efficient daily operations of the store as the manager on duty. In addition, you are required to follow all company policies and procedures that are communicated from the Sunrise Support Office.Essential Details and Responsibilities:Sales LeadershipAssist customers and leads the team in driving sales, service, and customer experience initiatives in store to achieve sales, KPIs and store performance goals.Prioritize, assign, and delegate daily goals, tasks, and assignments to associate team and ensure proper completion when manager on duty.Maintain a high level of professionalism and positive attitude in the workplace, including conducting oneself in an appropriate manner when communicating verbally, in writing, or by email.Customer ExcellencePartner with the Store Manager to plan and execute community events and develop mutually beneficial business relationships with various rescue agencies.Protect employees and customers by maintaining a safe and clean store environment. Required to maintain cleanliness and well-being of all livestock including animal care and feeding.Lead and demonstrate engagement with customers using selling and service model.Operations & Team BuildingSupports, understands, and is accountable for maintaining store standards and meeting all safety requirements / standards, including the protection of all company assets both tangible and intangible.Clean pet enclosures and ensure all animals have appropriate food and water.Support in maintaining the fish system.Assist with the restocking of merchandise on shelves and fixtures and moving products from the stockroom to the salesfloor. Heavy lifting up to 55lbs may be repeatedly required several times throughout a shift.Partners with the Store Manager to ensure physical inventories are accurate, counts are taken, and shrink goals are met.Proficient in store opening and closing procedures.Accountable for communicating concerns with gaps in performance to Store Manager or Assistant Store manager so this can be addressed appropriately and in a timely manner.Support the execution of new hire training and merchandising guidelines.Support the execution of community events and partnering with various rescue agencies.Complete tasks and other duties as assigned by store management.Business InsightUnderstands the business. Needs to be able to react to business needs.Experience, Education, Certifications (List minimum required to enter the role.)Minimum 1 year retail or customer service experienceEnjoy working with and around animals.Job RequirementAbility to work a flexible work schedule which will include morning, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.Valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle preferred.Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Effort of position:Several duties require physical exertion and dexterity. Heavy lifting up to 55lbs required several times throughout a shift.Most of the time is spent on the selling floor, standing, or moving around.
