Part Time Associate Veterinarian - Brookfield Pet Hospital

Position Overview We are looking for a Part‑Time Veterinarian to provide predictable hours on a consistent home hospital assignment in Fountain Valley, California. The role supports clinical engagement while offering flexibility for life commitments. Key Responsibilities Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Client communication and education Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery Maintain accurate medical records Pharmacy duties – prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols Promote teamwork and staff efficiency Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluate and monitor protocols for the daily running of the hospital from intake to discharge Monitor cases and attend daily rounds to uphold high standards Participate in practice‑management updates and training at all levels Perform other duties as assigned by management Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university Current State Veterinary License DEA registration obtained and maintained 3+ years of experience in a veterinary practice Strong diagnostic and clinical skills Excellent surgical and dental skills Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care Effective communication with staff and clients Comfortable handling pets experiencing stress, illness or pain Willingness to perform moderate physical tasks (climbing, stooping, kneeling, etc.) and lift up to 50 lbs Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Clinical knowledge of cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological examinations and appropriate treatment prescribing Problem‑solving and improvement of hospital operations Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff Professionalism and constructive feedback culture Business acumen and understanding of veterinary practice finances Ethical decision‑making regarding patient care Commitment to continuing education and mentoring others Benefits Signing and retention incentives up to $50,000 Competitive salary and production bonus (no negative accrual option) CE stipend Licensing and dues reimbursement 401(k) participation Team member pet discounts Emotional wellbeing support, including Calm app access and 24/7 EAP Supportive home hospital environment backed by national resources Pay Range
