Company Description Volunteer Behavioral Health provides comprehensive behavioral health care services across 58 service locations in 58 counties in Tennessee. Outpatient services support adults, children, and families and include individual, family, marital, and group therapy, evaluations and assessments, crisis response and respite, specialized programs, psychiatric medication management, and substance use treatment and education. Volunteer Behavioral Health also operates two Crisis Stabilization Units and Walk-In Clinics for behavioral health issues in Cookeville and Chattanooga, enhancing access to urgent mental health support. Team members join a mission-driven organization focused on ensuring that help today leads to a better tomorrow. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Therapist role based in Gallatin, TN. The Therapist will provide direct clinical services, including individual, family, and group therapy to diverse populations, using evidence-based practices aligned with organizational standards of care. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting diagnostic evaluations and assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, and coordinating care with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and other providers. The role involves participating in crisis intervention and stabilization as needed, providing education and support to clients and families, and collaborating with community resources to enhance continuity of care. The Therapist may also contribute to specialized programs, quality improvement initiatives, and staff trainings that support best practices in behavioral health. Qualifications Clinical counseling and therapy skills, including individual, family, and group interventions, with the ability to apply evidence-based practices in behavioral health settings. Assessment and diagnostic abilities, including conducting psychosocial evaluations, risk assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical review. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building therapeutic rapport, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing education to clients and families. Administrative and documentation skills, including accurate recordkeeping, familiarity with electronic health records, and adherence to regulatory, ethical, and confidentiality standards. Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, with the capacity to respond effectively to urgent behavioral health needs and coordinate follow-up care. Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution. Relevant state licensure or license eligibility (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) in Tennessee, or supervised licensure track when applicable. Experience in outpatient behavioral health, community mental health, or crisis services is strongly preferred.
