Advanced Practice Provider - Thoracic Radiation Oncology The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Advanced Practice Provider - Thoracic Radiation Oncology position offers an opportunity to provide specialized care for adult patients with thoracic malignancies in a multidisciplinary oncology environment focused on clinical excellence and compassionate care. Within the Thoracic Radiation Oncology department, the Advanced Practice Provider - Thoracic Radiation Oncology works collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support patients before, during, and after radiation treatment. The Advanced Practice Provider - Thoracic Radiation Oncology plays a vital role in assessment, treatment planning, symptom management, survivorship care, patient education, and clinical coordination across the continuum of care at UT MD Anderson. The ideal candidate is a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with strong communication skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred qualifications include oncology and/or thoracic/pulmonary experience, along with a minimum of one year of experience as an advanced practice provider in an inpatient setting or two years in an outpatient setting. Licensure and certification requirements were not provided. Minimum $56.49/hour - Midpoint $70.43/hour - Maximum $84.86/hour The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Care Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on patient diagnosis Identify normal and abnormal health characteristics and manage urgent patient care concerns Perform clinical assessments for patients without scheduled appointments and make appropriate referrals Assess and manage radiation-related side effects Partner with supervising physicians to develop radiation clinical treatment plans, monitor outcomes, and initiate appropriate care interventions Implementation & Collaboration Order diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures in accordance with institutional and state requirements Document and dictate consultation notes, follow-up visits, and treatment summaries Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes Participate in cancer survivorship monitoring and management Education & Professional Development Maintain current knowledge of Radiation Oncology practice, clinical research, and treatment protocols Serve as a clinical resource and educator for patients, families, and healthcare teams Precept newly hired advanced practice providers during orientation and provide guidance on clinical operations and best practices Communication & Documentation Utilize strong interpersonal, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills to effectively manage patient care situations Ensure accurate documentation of patient encounters, medication orders, and radiation prescriptions Act as a liaison and advocate for patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members Clinical Environment Deliver care in a multidisciplinary, patient-focused outpatient oncology setting Support adult patients with thoracic malignancies before, during, and after radiation treatment Demonstrate adaptability, emotional intelligence, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic clinical environment Foster strong collaboration across disciplines while maintaining a high standard of compassionate patient care
EDUCATION
Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Physician Assistant Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.EXPERIENCE

Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse All of the following: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN or ACNP or ACNPC or ACAGNP or AGACNP or ACNPC-AG or AGACNP or AGNP or ACPNP or ANP or AGNP or AGPCNP or FNP or GNP or PNP or PMHNP or WHNP or APNP). Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Basic Life Support (BLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) If working in the following departments: Pediatric - Patient Care (113100). MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing. Physician Assistant All of the following: PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas. Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in one of following department: Pediatrics - Patient Care (113100).
