Director of Mediation & Family Law Services

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is seeking a strategic, mission-driven Director of the Family Law Resource Center to lead and grow services that support families navigating conflict and the court system.

This leadership role oversees all programs and services associated with the Family Law Resource Center, including the Guardian ad Litem program, parenting classes and family resources, and collaborative partnerships with courts and community agencies . The Director works closely with judges, court administrators, and community partners to ensure that individuals and families across Chatham County and the Southeast Georgia region have access to high-quality resources and conflict resolution services.

This position plays a key role in strengthening access to justice, family stability, and community-based conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Program Development

• Provide visionary leadership for all family law, mediation, and Guardian ad Litem services.
• Ensure programs align with the Center’s mission, strategic priorities, and community needs.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies to expand access to mediation and family support services.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and lead continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for growth, sustainability, and enhanced community impact.

Mediation & Family Law Oversight

• Ensure compliance with Georgia family law, ADR regulations, mediation ethics, confidentiality standards, and court requirements.
• Serve as the Center’s internal subject matter expert on family law and mediation-related matters.
• Support self-represented litigants in understanding court processes while maintaining clear ethical boundaries regarding legal advice.
• Provide consultation and guidance on complex, high-conflict, and sensitive family cases.
• Promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered practices across all programs.

Staff Leadership & Team Development

• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate program staff, mediators, contractors, interns, and volunteers.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and mission-aligned team culture.
• Provide coaching, professional development, and leadership support to strengthen staff capacity and retention.
• Ensure appropriate training and onboarding for all personnel engaged in service delivery.

Court & Community Engagement

• Serve as the primary liaison to judges, court administrators, ADR program staff, and legal stakeholders.
• Cultivate strong partnerships with legal aid organizations, domestic violence agencies, mental health providers, schools, and community-based organizations.
• Represent the Center in professional, civic, and community forums.
• Support public education and outreach efforts that advance peaceful conflict resolution and equitable access to justice.
• Participate in media, advocacy, and public relations activities as appropriate.

Training, Education & Public Outreach

• Oversee mediation training programs for volunteers, professionals, and community members.
• Develop and deliver educational programming related to family law, parenting plans, communication skills, and conflict resolution.
• Supervise the development of educational materials and resources for self-represented litigants and families in crisis.
• Expand community awareness of mediation and restorative practices through workshops, presentations, and collaborative initiatives.

Compliance, Quality Assurance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to all ethical, legal, contractual, and funding requirements.
• Oversee screening protocols, safety procedures, domestic violence considerations, mandated reporting obligations, and confidentiality protections.
• Monitor service quality, case outcomes, and client satisfaction through data collection and evaluation systems.
• Lead quality assurance efforts that strengthen equity, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.
• Ensure accurate reporting for courts, funders, grants, and organizational leadership.

Financial & Administrative Management

• Support annual budgeting, financial oversight, and revenue management for all family law and mediation programs.
• Assist with grant development, reporting, and stewardship activities.
• Collaborate with organizational leadership to ensure operational sustainability and strategic growth.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active license in good standing with any State Bar.
• Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in family law, mediation, dispute resolution, or closely related fields.
• Demonstrated understanding of family court systems, custody and parenting matters, domestic violence dynamics, and alternative dispute resolution practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational, project management, and relationship-building abilities.
• Commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
• Willingness to complete required mediation certification/training immediately upon hire if not already certified.

Preferred Qualifications

• Georgia Domestic Relations Mediator certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
• Significant experience in family law litigation or court-connected mediation programs.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and managing complex programs.
• Experience working with high-conflict families, survivors of domestic violence, or vulnerable populations.
• Background in program evaluation, outcomes measurement, and data-informed decision-making.
• Experience developing and facilitating trainings or public education initiatives.

Additional Requirements

The successful candidate must be a certified mediator or obtain certification within six months of hire and demonstrate enthusiasm for developing and facilitating mediation and conflict resolution trainings.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience, with an anticipated range of $80,000–$100,000 annually . Comprehensive benefits package available.
