Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills
• Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments, especially with DHH students
• Comfortable facilitating one-on-one communication between student and staff
• Ability to collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance the student’s academic and social experience
• Certification or state licensure for Sign Language Interpreters preferred
• Professionalism and sensitivity in an academic setting

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide seamless, accurate interpretation for one DHH student during classes, activities, and interactions throughout the school day
• Assist with classroom instruction and foster full participation of the student in all educational activities
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure accessible learning and communication
• Maintain confidentiality and support a nurturing, inclusive learning environment
• Address the unique needs and progress of the student, adapting interpreting style as necessary
