Chemistry AnalystJob Summary

The Chemistry Analyst will support analytical testing within a pet food laboratory, performing chemical and nutritional analyses on raw materials and finished products. This role utilizes a variety of analytical instrumentation and wet chemistry techniques to evaluate product quality, nutritional content, shelf life, and stability. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain hands-on experience in a large laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform chemical and nutritional analyses using advanced laboratory instrumentation.
• Conduct testing with equipment including HPLC, GC, ICP, ICP-MS, Leco Protein Analyzers, Fat Extractors, Auto Titrators, TGA, and other analytical instruments.
• Prepare, collect, and analyze raw material and finished product samples.
• Support scientists and engineers by performing biological and chemical testing.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate product specifications and performance.
• Record observations, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
• Monitor testing timelines and ensure projects meet established objectives.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and safety checks on laboratory equipment.
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience working with HPLC, GC, and/or ICP instrumentation.
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry, chromatography, and food science principles.
• Experience performing quality assurance or quality control testing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LC-MS/MS, ICP-OES, and/or GC-FID instrumentation.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Natural Sciences, or a related field, preferably with an emphasis in Analytical Chemistry.
• Prior experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory environment.

• Laboratory-based work environment.
• Available schedules:
  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Thompson's Station, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $26.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
